Workbench 6.0.8 (1 reply)

When I start Workbench, the Home page doesnt come up. It starts on the Connections screen. The connections I create are all successful. I can't find a way to get to the Home screen (as decribed and pictured in the on-line doc section 5.1.
I am running the following executable (from a desktop icon):
"C:\Program Files (x86)\MySQL\MySQL Workbench CE 6.0.8\MySqlWorkbench.exe"
There are no additional command line parameters.
I am totally NEW at this. Hoping for an answer that makes me go "duh".

Update Previous Value and replace null to previous value (no replies)

Hi All,

Please find the below scenario to sum previous value and replace zero to previous value.

Create table joborder ( jo_no int(10), jo_date datetime, jo_status char(10) );

insert into joborder values( 1,'01-03-13','A');

insert into joborder values( 2,'01-03-13','A');

Insert into joborder values (3,'01-03-13','A');

insert into joborder values( 4,'04-03-13','A');

insert into joborder values(5,'08-03-13','B');

insert into joborder values( 6,'12-03-13','C');

Status: A means Completed B means Progress C means Dev

I want a report as below

Date TotalJoborder A B C

01-03-13 3 3 0 0

04-03-13 1 0 1 0

08-03-13 1 0 1 0

12-03-13 1 0 0 1

I want a report as below should increment previous values and display previous value as well.

My sql workbench 6.1 show query on apply (1 reply)

I had installed older version of mySql workbench. Now I have updated to 6.1 .

Earlier when we update something and clicks on apply it showed update statement to be executed, but this version does not do that.

I have tried checking Edit->preferences->SQL Queries: Confirm Data changes., still no wizard. I need to save the update query to apply on other instance of DB too.

Options for Identifying Relation and Mandatory (no replies)

When editing a relationship in Workbench the "Identifying relation" and "Mandatory" checkboxes appear. If the relationship is not Identifying then cheking the Mandatory checkbox sets the foreign key to to "Not NULL".

If the "Identifying relation" box is checked then the foreign key must be "Not NULL" since the foreign key is part of a primary key.

I think it is wrong that the "Identifying relation" can be checked and the "Mandatory" box remain unchecked. I think that whenever the "Identifying relation box is check, the "Mandatory" box should be automatically checked.

Conversely, if the "Identifying relation" box goes from checked to unchecked, the "Mandatory box should be automatically unchecked, leaving it to the user to decide.

Change same field in different tables to lower case (no replies)

I just installed MySQL Workbench and would like to ask if there's a way to change a field named Site to lower case - throughout my database. I have a zillion tables with this field, and I'd like to be able to batch convert them, without having to type in the name of every table with this field.

without host name it wont connect to database

Hello,

How is the Traffic rate measured on mysql workbench?
Is it a reflection of all network IO on the server machine?
Or it is isolated to all network IO specifically related to mysqld?

How is this measured/implemented on a linux box?

The reason I'm asking is that when I measure the active IO on the machine with linux admin tools and wireshark, I get comparable figures that match up.

however when I'm running the workbench, (from a remote machine), workbench reports traffic at approximately 60% more.

Also I'm assuming that the units that workbench reports in is in face MegaBytes per sec - is this correct?

I cannot for the life of me get a connection to the mysql server in workbench 6.0.9!! I try to configure the connection using the "root" user and also another user name but continously fail to connect! I KNOW I type in the right/correct password. where am i going wrong in trying to do this?

I have just installed mysql community server and workbench. I am following the tutorial "6.1 Administering a MySQL Server", but when I get to step "7. On Microsoft Windows, select the appropriate MySQL service for the MySQL connection." there is no service in the list.

I have the "Path to Configuration File:" set to "C:\ProgramData\MySQL\MySQL Server 5.6\my.ini" per the tutorial, and have verified that the file is at this location. But it keeps coming back with "No MySQL service found."

Any help would be appreciated.

No schemas showing using migration wizard (1 reply)

Using the migration wizard on 6.1 CE. To login I am using a native sql account I had the DBA set up. I am trying to migrate a database from and instance of SQL Server 2012 (not local).

The good news... following the "How to" I am able to successfully connect to our SQL server instance. I am (of course) also able to make a connection to my local instance of MySQL.

The first time through, I left the SQL Server database field blank as suggested by the How to. But no schema were listed. So, I went back to the SQL Server connection set up and specifically listed the database I wanted to migrate.
Then I re-tested the connection and again got confirmation that the connection was good.

Proceeding on, I got the warning below...

I am only making an educated guess here, but I suspect that my login account lacks the privileges that might be needed for the migration wizard?
Otherwise I cannot fathom why the migration wizard isn't picking up the database.

The account I asked the DBA to set up has privileges to connect to the server, login to the database (I have tested using this account on SMSS to login to SQL server and I can do so; further validation that the login account can indeed connect to the SQL Server instance).

However, I only asked for SELECT permissions for the account and am wondering if this might be the problem?
If so, can someone tell me what permissions are needed for this account in order
for the migration wizard to successfully read the database and list the schema?
Additionally, I have found out the hard way that sometimes, depending on what is going on behind the scenes, an account may need connection privileges to other databases - perhaps system databases such as 'master' or 'msdb'? Could this be an issue as well? Does the migration wizard need privileges on any of the system databases in SQL Server?

If permissions is not the issue, can someone explain why I can connect successfully to my SQL Server 2012 instance, but then the wizard cannot: a) read any of the databases on the instance (when database is left blank); b) read the specific database on the instance when it is explicitly spelled out?

I upgraded to mysql workbench 6.1.4.11733.
Whem I make a query that returns text fields or datetine fields, the result query grid doesn't resize to show the contents. Before the upgrade It was possible to view the entire datetime fields or at least 100 chars of a text field. I couldn't find an option to configure the way the grid shows data. Is it possible ?

I installed mysql-workbench from the debian 7 repositories and got old Version:

In 6.0 and below, query result columns would utilize the full workspace to fit the output in wide enough to be viewable. How can do this in 6.1?

Column sorting in result grid (no replies)

Workbench 6.1.411773

I older version if you mouse clicked on the column header in the result grid you could change the sort order ascending to descending and reverse the order when clicked again.

In the current version when the column header is clicked workbench orders the column ascending but will not reverse the sort order when clicked again.

This is a small change in behavior but is very annoying.

Was this change on purpose? Is there any setting that I can change?
