OK - moving right along..................
Have resolved the above issue BUT now:-

How do I configure MySql Workbench to connect to a hostname with SRV records? I've tried putting OPT_DNS_SRV=true in the connection options but get "Wrong type passed for OPT_DNS_SRV, expected bool". I've also tried putting the srv scheme in the hostname but it says that's not a valid URI.

For some reason, whenever I try to use one of the aforementioned features of Workbench, it crashes. Unlike other people's issues, mine doesn't happen on a specific database, but on all of my databases. I'm using the latest version (v8.0.38). I tried all attempts of troubleshooting, to the point I reset my Windows 10 PC, but still, the issue persists.

After update to workbench 8.0.40 i cannot connect to database.
I got the error "Autentication Plugin not loded".

Host, password, user are ok.

System: Windows 11

I just installed MySQL Workbench on a new computer. MySQL Workbench 8.0 (Version 8.0.40 build 4545542 CE [64-bits]). And after having done so I am unable to connect to one of my DB's with it. Here's the error that I get when I try:

I don't understand why I'm getting this error. I'm able to connect to the MySQL server using the same hostname / port / credentials with PHP / mysqli, so why can't I connect using MySQL Workbench?

Likewise, I'm able to connect to the connect to that same server using the same hostname / port / credentials on MySQL Workbench 8.0 (Version 8.0.36 build 3737333 CE [64-bits]).

Is version 8.0.40 of MySQL Workbench buggy compared to version 8.0.36? Should I try an older version of MySQL Workbench?

Hello,

we currently have a system with laptops in an educational setting where the students login on windows and the %AppData% folder is set to a network drive. The My SQL Workbench now uses this path to store all of the settings, logs and cache files into the folder (as documented here https://dev.mysql.com/doc/workbench/en/wb-configuring-files.html). Now because we are working on a network drive this will cause the workbench to not work fluently and this disrupts the courses massively, since the students cannot properly work with the workbench because a simple database query often takes seconds to minutes to start executing against the database.

Is it possible to change the default path so My SQL Workbench uses a different folder?

Hi,
We are using mySQL community server 8.0.32. Came across this Oracle security alert CVE-2021-23369 from here
https://www.oracle.com/security-alerts/cpuapr2024.html
However, when i try to download the patches, it requires an oracle support identifier which i assume is for paid customers. Sorry, quite new to this. Where do we usually download patches for mySQL community edition?
Also, it is not very clear from the link whether this vulnerability is specific mySQL enterprise, it just says mySQL server.

Hello,
When using GRANT to limit a user "wouserone" to Select column privileges on "workordernumber"in my table "tbworkorders"

I.E.
[Grant Select (workordernumber) on dbworkorders.tbworkorders to 'wouserone'@'192.168.1.4';]

I get the following error.

Error Code: 1410. You are not allowed to create a user with GRANT.

I'm logged in as Root with full privileges and wouserone was created days ago.

All thoughts and ideas would be greatly appreciated,

I used Workbench 8.0 on Ubuntu Debian version 20.0 and everything worked perfectly, I recently updated my OS to Debian 24.04 and since then it has been a nightmare to use WorkBench, it is always crashing when I switch between applications causing me to have to close it and every time I start it again my preference settings have been lost, such as: line limit, connection time and interface layout, anyone else having these problems?

Oracle LTS only lists the 8.x Database branch for support dates. Is there a source we can use for Workbench service dates for GA releases, bug fix/security fix sunsetting?

I'm using mysql-workbench-community_8.0.40-1ubuntu24.10_amd64.deb on ubuntu 24.10. When I create a new EER diagram the window doesn't render correctly. I'd like to upload a screenshot here but I can't seem to do that in this forum, should I be able to post images here?
