Failed to Connect to MySQL (no replies)

i'm runnig by Linux Mint17 64 bit, workbench 6.2
try to connect via phpmyadmin with user and password - success
try to connect via command line: mysql -u prog -p - success
try to connect via workbench using the same pair user-password - "Failed to Connect to MySQL at 192.168.1.55:3306 with user prog"
what wrong?
